Do I need my own guitar for class?
Yes! If you don't have your own, you can always borrow one from a friend or rent a guitar from us.
What do I need to bring to class?
Just your guitar! We will provide you with a Strum & Sip binder and all class materials.
How to I determine which level to start?
If you've never played guitar before or just know a couple of chords, our Level 1 or Level 2 Newbie is the best place to start. If you have some previous experience, a Level 2 or Level 3 class is usually a good fit. Please review our Class Descriptions page for specific class details. Still unsure? Contact us and we'll determine the best placement for you.
What is the difference between Newbie 1 & Newbie 2?
Both classes are designed for beginners with little or no previous guitar experience. We recommend starting with Newbie 1 and doing both classes; however, if you have a schedule conflict or have some previous guitar experience, starting at Newbie 2 is a great option.
How do I sign up?
If you have a group-on, living social, amazon local or any other type of promotion, simply go to our Coupon page to redeem it.
Once you are ready to sign up for a class, visit our Classes page.
Why don't I see any classes on the schedule this week?
Classes typically start at the beginning of each month. Our schedule only shows the class start date and then repeats for 4 consecutive weeks on the same day/time/location unless otherwise noted. If it's the middle of the month and you're looking to start a class, classes are most likely already in progress. Check the upcoming schedule for the next round of classes.
Can I join a class already in progress?
Yes you can. Please contact us to register as tickets are most likely not available.
What's the difference between a "Class" and a "Level"?
A "Class" and a "Level" are the same thing. 4- 55 minute lessons for 4 consecutive weeks.
How often does my class meet?
Classes meet 1 time a week for 55 minutes at the same time and location for 4 consecutive weeks.
What if I'm interested in more than 1 Level?
Classes run in sequence (monthly) from Levels 1-12 approximately every 4 weeks. For example, if you started a Level 1 class in June, Level 2 would start beginning of July, Level 3 beginning of August and so forth. Classes will stay at the same day/time/location as long as the class meets our minimum size requirements.
How do I sign-up for multiple Levels?
All students need to sign-up for each class they attend. If you purchased a group-on, Living Social or Amazon local deal, you would register initially with the promotional code they provided you. For additional classes, Strum & Sip will provide you with new registration codes.
What if I miss a class?
No worries! You can make up a class at any time on another night at a different location. In addition, we always spend the first few minutes of class reviewing what we did the week before.
What's the deal with drinks?
We are a sipping class meaning you're free to drink to your heart's content before, after and throughout the class. You can start a tab with one of our awesome bartenders when you arrive. Drinks are not included when you purchase a class.
What about fingernails?
For your fret board hand, we recommend your nails be as short as possible or no longer than the tip of your finger. If your nails are too long, they will keep your fingers from the fretboard and result in poor sound.
Where do I park?
Most of our locations have designated parking lots and street parking. Prior to your class you will receive an email with parking instructions and tips. *Strum & Sip is not responsible for parking tickets.
Can I bring a friend who just wants to sip?
You sure can! We just ask that you check with your instructor prior to class to make sure there's room, as some of our locations have limited space.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes! Our minimum age requirement is 18 and older.
